The carob tree, is a large evergreen tree that produces sweet carob pods that are actually classified as legumes. It is known also by its beautiful botanical name Ceratonia siliqua and is native to the Mediterranean as well as Western Asia where it has been cultivated for over 4 thousand years.
A healthier alternative to chocolate. They taste delicious, have no added sugar and can be easily used in cooking when you are looking to replace chocolate or avoiding dairy.
